    You can start off the theater plank for a small period and build up to what you can manage. There is also the reverse Plank which could be an option. If you are still being paid pain after this I would get a medical check.

    The Plank position can place a fantastic deal of stress on the wrist and shoulder joints, particularly if you do not quite have the right position. If your shoulders are tight or ride up towards your ears. This can change your whole alignment and then place stress on your joints. Pain can also be an indication of limited upper body strength.
    You can try doing it resting on your forearms and instead of lifting both legs keep one knee on the floor to give you more support.

    Do you sleep on your side? You may have a lax shoulder girdle. If you have had an injury you may need to question a physiotherapist how to “set your scapular”.
