There are two forms of arthritis. Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disease where the body doesn’t recognize itself and destroys the tissues of the joints causing enormous joint deterioration. Osteoarthritis is wear and tear on a joint. As the cartilage wears away it causes gnarling of the ends of the bones. This will make it painful to go a joint which makes the stiffness. The stiffness and pain make atrophy because the area affected is not used.
