@ZenonOne
@ZenonOne Unfortunately, yes, it does happen to all sorts. The shoulder is the most complicated, and least understood of all the body’s articulations…misdiagnosis is common, surgery is not always succesful, drugs or infiltrations often mask the problem, allowing further abuse. Before going to such extremes you should see a fascia or trigger top therapist as pain is often referred from muscles far from the shoulder itself. This work by doctors Travell and Simmons is recent. Excellent luck.
@sirprenante well it happens to all sorts. I work out but I am not a muscle head. I also play rugby but not at a serious level. Despite this moderate exercise I have had some pretty terrible shoulder problems in the last year.
@notta3d You say you’ve been treating yourself horribly for years but then you want cortisone to restore to doing the same thing ! Your body is trying to tell you to stop taking so much pressure on yourself, weighing yourself down with unnecessary stress on your system and surpassing your kidney’s natural capacity to produce cortisone.Perhaps you should listen to it ! Believe me, women are far more attracted to well balanced, intelligent and sensitive men than muscleheads.
Question about my achilles bursa sac. So I have had pain in my bursa sac next to my achilles muscle for over 3 years. I’m 15. I’m also a punter for my high school and I’m on varsity. I have had a total of 14 physical therapy sessions. One group of sessions was sessionsthe other 8 sessions. There is only pain when I place my ankle straight out and the pain is astute and intense. Should I maybe get a steroid injection or cortisone into the bursa sac or maybe even surgery?
hey, what where your symptoms?, i have the shoulder popping and i have bursitis, but i dont know if im gonna need surgery….please lmk
My shoulders are all screwed up. I was lifting way too much on a vertical type chest press machine. (Basicly bench press) and felt a snap in both shoulders. I’ve had MRI’s and X-rays and everything checked out fine. So they reckon its an inflammed bursa sac. Its been a half year since it happened and it hasn’t seemed to heal at all really. Would you recommend getting it removed? Or perhaps having fluid drawn off? (I’m asking you because my doctors are freaking clueless lol)
The cortisone shots will relieve the pain and you’ll be able to work out fine, but I’d reckon that if you want your shoulders to heal, you should probably rest them for several weeks. After the surgery though, I was rehabbing the very next day and within 3 weeks time, I had a excellent deal of might back and by the last day of treatment, I don’t reckon my shoulders had ever been as strong. I was pushing myself to get stronger but at the same time, they pushed the crap out of me also.
My shoulder feels fine. The original surgery was to repair a torn rotator cuff and labrum, which gave me a whole lot of problems working out with a really astute pinch and significant loss of might. The bursa removal was mainly a preventative thing they did so that as my rotator healed, i wouldn’t develop bursitis. this would allow the bursa sack to regrow from scratch and heal at the same rate as my rotator and labrum.
How are you making out now that it has been a while? Had the surgery helped? I can’t do hill bench presses so I went to the doctor and he sent me to get an MRI. I have bursitis in both shoulders in the same exact spot. Now that I look back I treat my shoulders horrible with all the working out through the years and I sleep every night with my arms behind my head. I’m in suspense I don’t have to have surgery and I’m in suspense that the cortisone shots will relieve the pain so I can work out.
Hey, what part of your body is this (pm me if you want). If you dont want to that is fine. But it would help my project!
MPD (medical professional development)
that’s cool, thanks for the comment. what class is the power top for?
oh yeah, it was a super astute pain. a excellent test for torn rotator cuffs is to hold you arm straight out in front of you, rotate your thumb down so your palm is facing outward and then have someone, or yourself, push down on your hand while you push back trying to keep your arm parallel to the ground. if you have a torn rotator cuff, you can’t keep your arm up. when the doctor did this test, he knew exactly what that problem was.
Is this you? Thank you for this record! I embedded it into a power top project that I was doing. Thank you very much.
What do you mean, you were stubborn and didn’t see a doctor? Are you saying that the pain was bearable enough to workout through? I have a slight pain in my shoulder. The only problem is that it’s still there and a mystery. It’s bearable, and if someone told me that I would be okay if I just endured the pain, I would be okay with that.
I’ve had a very similar problem, but only for 3 months. It all started with a swift accident where I took a blow to the chest. Do you feel a astute pain primarily when you use your shoulder hostile to resistance, like military press, push up, etc…?
If you’ve been having problems for 5 years, then surgery sounds like it would be a excellent thought. What kind of surgery alleviates inflammation in the tendons?
well i have just been looking on the internet of what my reoccuring injury may be. i have just found out that this may bebusitis, which is an inflammation of the shoulder tendons causing a very unconfortable motion of the shoulder with lots of pain. when it happens, i cannot go my arm upwards. i might be going for a surgery as this has been reoccuring for the last five years. what do you reckon?
yeah, if you have any kind of torn muscle, it will show on an mri. anti-inflamatory pills will reduce some of the swelling but it doesn’t allow the muscle to heal. same with a cortisone shot, it works really well to remove the pain and allow you to use your shoulder, but you’ll still have a loss of might and when the shot wears off, the pain comes back. like browneyegurl said, check with an orthopedic surgeon and see about the possibility of getting an mri.
And yes, your information has been helpful. I appreciate it.
My condition has superior with the meds over the last 4 days. Three weeks ago, the only way I could lift my arm up is if I did it slow. Now I can bring to somebody’s attention my arm without any discomfort. The overlapping feeling has reduced. There is a faint click near my clavicle with discomfort there. If I place my arm out to my side in the shape of an L facing me and rotate it back, I feel some discomfort deep into my rear delts. Did your pain get better at all before getting of poorer quality, or did it just get of poorer quality? Thank u
Yep Yep.. my left shoulder is like frozen, i cannot lift my arm straight out above my head nor can i hold even a light weight in my hand due to no strenght and the pain is severe. To me it sounds like you to have some damge done to your roatry cuff, besides bursitis setting in.
I myself am dealing with a torn rotary cuff, terrible bursitis and carpal tunnel on my left side.I was stubborn and ignored the pain for nearly a year. Ive been to Physical Therapy, had a cortazone shot and all the Meds the doctors gave me FAILED’ Please do yourself a favor and dont wait to long and see a doctor, over time the pain will get of poorer quality and quicker or later you will have no choice but to see your doctor. Hope my information has been helpfull
That didn’t occur to me, and seems like a real possibility. I thought it might be bursitis because it narrows the space in the shoulder causing the muscles to rub and inflame. But after reading generally about the shoulder, I realize that it can pretty much be a number of things as it is one of the most hard areas to diagnose. I’m taking anti-stirring pills. They seem to work. I’m going to wait another few weeks to see if this gets better before seeking help. Thanks for you comment.
